Setting Up iOS Mail

This guide explains how to add your OnePoundEmail account to the built-in Mail app on iPhone or iPad.

Connection Settings

Your server hostname is in your welcome email. Have it ready before you start.

Incoming mail (IMAP)
  Server: your-server-hostname
  Port: 993
  Security: SSL

Outgoing mail (SMTP)
  Server: your-server-hostname
  Port: 587
  Security: STARTTLS

Username: your full email address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com)
Password: your email account password

Adding Your Account on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings and scroll down to Mail.
  2. Tap Accounts, then Add Account.
  3. Tap Other at the bottom of the list.
  4. Tap Add Mail Account.
  5. Enter your name, full email address, password, and a description, then tap Next.
  6. Make sure IMAP is selected at the top.
  7. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter the hostname, your full email as the username, and your password.
  8. Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter the same hostname, username, and password.
  9. Tap Next, then Save.
iOS Mail uses port 993 for IMAP and port 587 for SMTP by default. If you see a certificate warning, make sure the hostname matches exactly what is shown in your welcome email.

Troubleshooting

  • If the account fails to verify, double-check that the hostname and username are correct.
  • Make sure you are entering your full email address as the username, not just the local part.
  • If you see a certificate warning, the hostname may be incorrect. Re-check your welcome email.
  • Check your password is correct by logging in to webmail at webmail.mxroute.com first.
